So K-Days have began and I have since made lots of plans to shoot a whole lot of things that I envisioned. The day before I worked with a girl and my assistant while planning my route for the couples scheduled to shoot this week. It was seriously a whole lot of work! The crowd and noise was definitely a major issue I had to overcome for my client. I tested this shot in the Merry-Go-Around many times on my own before going for this final product. This couple was super cute and definitely very photogenic! While we were photographing the carousel thunder clouds began to roll in right behind me. At first I thought it was only the fireworks but it turned out to be a full on thunder storm! We finished a few final shots with their friends and the rain began to pour!
Carnival Themed Stylized Fashion Shoot at KDays Edmonton
I have been looking forward to shooting at the Calgary Stampede since last yearsince the photo I took of my friends at the faris wheel became viral on Facebook. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to Calgary in time. So I returned to KDays for this legit photography session fully prepared! I met up with the lovely Kailyn for this session and plan on doing a full coverage of KDays on different rides. We spent a lot of time exchanging ideas and ended up with the wardrobe she had and the props we used!
Cambodian Wedding Day in Edmonton
CONGRATULATIONS to Sam & Christina! This amazing Cambodian style wedding was definitely something else!! I have assisted and shot wedding, and this one is truly something!! It’s a whole lot of glamour and style packed into their two days adventure full of laughter. I wish you two love birds all the best. Congratulations again Mr. and Mrs. Chan :”)
A special shoutout to Teresa’s Custom Cakes for making this amazing cake for me to photograph on the day as well! It was a treat to work with them on that day.
While photos have been finished for quite some time already, I’m trying to get the photos to come out right on the computer screen. Enjoy the digital album brought to you by… well me! I feel that i’m getting better and better at this album design, and I have learned to take my time with my work before it comes out live on the internet.
Photographing the busy West Edmonton Mall? Yup! I was doing some commercial work and added a quick little family session with it. I must say, taking photos in the mall is actually a great idea! Europa Boulevard has one of the best lighting and beautiful structures built in under their roof! We were originally walking to Galaxy Land but they were closed, so we decided to venture into the Santa Maria. It was definitely a fun time!
Northern lights (aurora borealis) taken on a cold winter night at Elk Island National Park. I haven’t even finish editing all the photos and another G1 storm shows up!! Below is a nice little tool to predict Aurora activity brought to you by Aurorawatch.ca
A photo shoot I did for this beautiful grad dress along with the designer & maker. The idea stemmed because I wanted to look for a big puffy dress or graduation dress to shoot with. Jo has been looking for a shoot and capturing how she looked before she chops a huge length of hair for a charity called Hair Massacure. Knowing Jo is a designer and has made a dress she never got to wear to her high school prom, this photo shoot was definitely inevitable!
Quite happy with how it turned out. Hopefully I’ll get to shoot with her again when her hair gets chopped off =)
Another beautiful bikini shoot for Ashley for Baja Bronze Tanning Studio, this time with a twist! This photo shoot session has been in the making for the longest time! Not only did I build the lighting set up (as opposed to the traditional speed light or strobe lights), I have taken much attention to every detail and the background. The shoot was super fun with Ashley as usual, and everyone involved (along with the proud coworkers and owner of Baja Bronze) had a lot of fun! I even made a little behind the scenes video to capture this session.
The tin foil photography background was not a new idea at all, and has been around for a while, but I think taking this to such a large scale are something not many photographers have done! At least I hope I’m the first Edmonton Photographer or Calgary Photographer that did it! This is a Dani Diamond inspired ring light built.
The Great Mughal Gala presented by Pakistani Students’ Association University of Alberta. It was a great night full of talented cultural performances from Edmonton and awesome food! Seriously haven’t been updating for a while with everything going on, so I thought i’d send out a quick update on something from last night!
I guess my work has been getting more and more complicated, and more and more demanding… So with that being said, it really gets hard to keep up with updates and putting things together. Contracts and all these business sided things are now slowly becoming necessary for me to continue… so what’s going to happen? I don’t know… but at least I got to have fun tonight! and that’s all that matters!
I have anticipated this shoot with the family for a whole month! After 2 extremely cold weekend, Edmonton finally got warmer! Having taught one of the girls from a former teaching job, we were reconnected after a friend referred them to me.
I have to say, I was a bit nervous about this whole thing because I had to put my teacher hat away for a day and order the family around for poses and instruction to get good pictures. Oddly enough, the friend who reconnected us thinks that I was perfect for the job because I know just the trick to make everyone smile and get them to look their best. Well… here are some of the highlights =D What do you think?
Kids birthday parties are awesome! Favour bags, cup cakes, candies, jumpy castles, magicians, and even a hypnotists? I got to photograph a very special birthday party today for a great friend/mentor Kat’s little girl. It was truly a great experience to be involved in this! Here are some highlights.
In the year of 2015, what better way to celebrate it then to hang out with your friends have your photo taken? Got a chance to work with these lovely ladies for some candid portraits on a warmer Edmonton winter weather, and it was a total blast! These girls have been friends since elementary and is a real example of BFFs! Makes me wonder if I should call up some long lost friends from childhood haha.
We started off at this beautiful park where I have found while location scouting, and we even tried out some last minute light painting in day time! While that wasn’t enough, we decided to go even further and went down to the University Telus building and ended our day with some large scale light painting?
